Hello Reception!
We hope you and your families are well, we are thinking about you every single day. We know that this isn’t an easy time but we also know you have worked so hard this year, so we’re putting together some activities for you to do every week.
It would be great to see you complete these so why don’t you send us some of your work over on your Tapestry account and we can reply to your fantastic work. It doesn’t just have to be your home learning that we see; why don’t you send us some photos of things you’re getting up to, too?
It would be great to see what you have done when we get back to school!
Here are some other things you can do to help you too:
- Read a book
- Practise common exception words
- Practise number bonds to 10 & 20
- Write a story
- Draw or paint a picture
Key Skills
Within each year group, there are a collection of key skills that your child needs to know and be confident in discussing and demonstrating throughout their learning. The more practice they have learning these skills, the more confident your child will become, not only at this stage but throughout their time at Norfolk.
Please spend time working on these with your child/children. If you feel that they are struggling with these skills look at the previous year group's skills to support any gaps in their learning. Also if they are confident in a specific skill, look at the next year group to see how this skill moves on.
Dear Parents,
Here is a list of websites that provide educational resources and activities for you to do at home with your child. Most of them are online activities and some give you ‘hands on’ ideas and activities. There are so many websites to choose from but the ones I have chosen are fun, engaging and I use them myself as a teacher. I hope that you and your child enjoy the learning opportunities on these websites.

Reading

You can access over 100 free ebooks on this website. You will need to register and then you can login to read the ebooks with your child. Select books for ages 4-5 but also use ages 3 -4 or ages 5- 6 if these are more appropriate for your child. To help you decide which level to use your child should be reading books with around 95% accuracy. Reading every day is a really good activity to continue with your child.

This website is so much fun. It’s quick and easy to register as a parent. Click on start you reading adventure now and then you can login and your child can create their own monster and go on an adventure, playing phonics games as they will win prizes and move up the levels.
Songs and Stories

The British council is an excellent website for reception children. Go to the listen and watch section to listen to songs and stories. The Alphabet Song, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Dinosaur 1-10 are some of our favourite songs. There are also other sections to the website that you and your child might like. These are read and write, speak and spell and fun and games.

BBC school radio EYFS has a variety high quality nursery rhyme videos for you to watch and sing with your child. The counting songs are brilliant way to get your child using mathematical language. The listen and play and playtime section have audios of traditional tales and early learning topics and games to develop your child’s listening skills.
Maths
The nrich website has practical maths activities that you can do with your child at home. Go to the EYFS section of the website.

A lovely Easter activity based on the book We’re Going on a Egg Hunt (hear it being read on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIxOrCXHLi8). When you set up your Easter hunt You could use chocolate eggs as suggested or Lego pieces, buttons or any object around the house that has different colours. You don’t need an Easter basket either, you can use a cup or container.

Topmarks has collected a range of games from various websites and put them all into one place. Select the early years section of the website. There are some fun maths games, such as Teddy Bear Numbers and for more of a challenge Higher and Lower and Ways to Make. You will also find many other activities here, including phonics activities.
