Assessment for Learning (AfL)

AfL is embedded throughout teaching.

We use:

• Targeted questioning
• Mini‑whiteboard responses
• Do‑Now retrieval tasks
• Exit tickets
• Live marking
• Lesson‑by‑lesson checks on conceptual grasp
• Pupil voice during reasoning

End‑of‑Block Assessments

We use White Rose End‑of‑Block Tests:

• As a prior knowledge check before teaching a new block
• To identify gaps
• To plan targeted support
• To adapt the forthcoming sequence

TA Hub – Additional Support & SEND Adaptations

We use TA Hub White Rose resources to:

• Support children working towards age‑related expectations
• Pre‑teach upcoming content for pupils with SEND
• Provide scaffolded versions of White Rose tasks
• Clarify misconceptions before they become barriers

We also use TA Hub pre‑teaching materials for children who are working well below the expected level.
