We also use Class Dojo to communicate with families, posting weekly messages and photos of what we are learning about. Please speak to Beth or the school office if you need support with Dojo!
Autumn 1
When we first come to Nursery, we learn "All About Me!" We also learn all about our families and friends too. This gives us a chance to make lots of new friends and learn valuable PSED skills.
We look at lots of different books, including The Runaway Chapati, So Much!, and The Tiger Who Came To Tea. We also start Drawing Club, which helps us with our storytelling skills and lets our imagination fly!
In our Maths lessons, we start with Subitising, which helps us to build our understanding of number and noticing patterns. We use natural objects and images and talk about what we can see, or what we notice.
This half term in Nursery, our topic is 'Who is down in the woods?' We will be reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and will be making and tasting our own porridge. We will also focus on the story 'Owl Babies' and we will be learning about owls and other animals that might live in the wood. We learn all about nature, seasons and animals. We love looking at different books, such as new non-fiction texts. We also look at different celebrations that are important to us.
Spring 1 - Traditional Tales
We welcome you back to Nursery after the holiday with our Traditional Tales topic. We read lots of stories, such as The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We love this topic and we learn all about the skills of retelling stories through story maps and our amazing Drawing Club.
Spring 2 - Transport and People Who Help Us
This half term, we are looking at 'Transport' and 'People Who Help Us.' We look at lots of stories and non-fiction texts, learning all about the world around us. We enjoy learning about the different modes of transport and the different people who can help us in our communities. If you have any pictures of people who help in our community, please do send them to us via our Class Dojo pages!
Summer 1
In Summer 1, we are learning all about animals, plants and lifecycles. We are thinking all things Spring. ☀️🌱 We are going to be looking at some non-fiction books about what animals we might see on a farm. We are also going to be reading stories such as The Little Red Hen, Jasper's Beanstalk and The Very Hungry Catterpillar.
In Maths, we are looking at 3D shapes, with our focus on talking about them and exploring their properties, using informal and mathematical language: ‘sides’, ‘corners’; ‘straight’, ‘flat’, ‘round’. We are also exploring 2D shapes, patterns and counting.
We are also starting our very first Read Write Inc lessons, looking at the letters and learning the picture names.
