The Norfolk Hub

The Norfolk Hub

We wanted to set up a community hub to combat food waste and play a part in reducing the amount of surplus food in Sheffield! The Norfolk Hub takes in surplus food from local supermarkets and shops and redistributes it to our families. The food that is redistributed is always in a perfect condition and just means that there is less food going to waste which is fantastic!

We are open every Thursday morning and located on the main school yard. Along with preventing food waste we aim to help the environment, reuse and recycle other useful items. The Norfolk hub has a free school uniform shop, a range of clothes, coats,  toys and baby items that are too good to be thrown away!

We also have a kitchen items lending library for families that would like to try new recipes or equipment and would like to borrow the equipment to try it out. For example, we have slow cookers, blenders, woks etc. If there are any items you would like to borrow, please pop along to the hub on a Thursday morning and ask us about the kitchen lending library.

Bring a bag with you - It helps the environment to re-use your own shopping bags. We always have lots of great items and supplies for you to take away!

The Kitchen Lending Library

Have you ever fancied trying new recipes and needed a slow cooker, a wok, a bigger pan or a blender?

We have a range of items that you can borrow from our kitchen lending library. Just pop along and ask us about it.

Many of our surplus food items are great to make family meals. We often have lots of potatoes, root vegetables, green vegetables, lentils, rice etc. These items can be fabulous for a slow cooker meal such as a stew, casserole or curry etc. Below are some recipes and ideas for family meals.

Thank you for your support

The hub has been a great success within our school community. As well as reducing waste and helping the environment we have been able to support lots of our local families.

Thank you to our families that have contributed items and donated uniforms to the hub and to the Norfolk Park TARA who often share their excess food supplies with us.

If you have good quality uniform, coats, children's clothes or toys please speak to Mrs Squiers or Miss Woodhams about dropping them off at school.
